The Homeschool Program is designed with the goal of creating a family-based learning environment at the museum.

The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art is pleased to offer free Homeschool Days for homeschool students of all ages and their families. Homeschool Days occur six times a year - three in the fall and three in the spring. Each of these days explores the museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions through a specific theme. Homeschool families can choose from a variety of activities during the event: scavenger hunts, self-guided tours using curriculum guides and other support provided by the museum, gallery activities, a drop-in art-making studio, and docent-led guided tours. The schedule of the events and details about this semester’s theme appears below. No reservations or pre-registrations are needed to participate in the Brooks Museum’s Homeschool Days.

Event schedule

Self-Guided Experience

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Come join us at the Brooks anytime on Homeschool Day to participate in a self-guided experience. Pick up fun gallery activities and a self-guided tour packet in the rotunda to explore the galleries on your own with friends and family. Try your hand at a hands-on gallery activity or take a break in our home school break room.

Drop-in Art Studio

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Choose between a quick art activity or dive deeper with a more involved one in our open drop-in art studio. The studio is a great hands-on way to learn more about the event’s theme as well as reinforce what you’ve learned in the galleries.

Guided Tour

10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Explore the galleries with one of our trained docents on a guided tour. Tours will focus specifically on the day’s theme, and will give you and your family a time to talk about art with our docents and with each other.
